The physical effects of PTSD

This article is a little technical, but worth the read if you are interested in what is really going on with PTSD.

Horses are a particularly powerful intervention for those dealing with PTSD. The chemical changes that take place in the PTSD brain result in a more primitive brain, actually resembling the brain of a horse – a prey animal. With this in mind, we may work on focus and relationship skill.  Additionally, since horses are sensitive to our emotional condition, in order to work with them, we may have to practice exercises that address modulating arousal levels (staying calm and relaxed).
Our program is based on working on each client’s goals, so these are just examples of things we may address with someone dealing with PTSD.

We would love to show you the ranch, introduce you to our wonderful horses and share more with you about how our program works. Call us today to schedule a visit!
