It so hard to see our children struggle…

Children with social, emotional and behavioral challenges can become so frustrated with things that may come easy to children not dealing with issues that they simply want to give up. This article offers some tips on what parents (and other caregivers) can do to help them keep on trying.

Horses are so accepting. They do not judge us. There is no right or wrong, simply what works and what doesn’t. They do not respond well to force, hostility or violence, actually shutting down (emotionally fleeing) if they feel threatened and are unable to physically avoid the treat. So we must work to find ways to effectively communicate with them. This takes focus and often involves working on alternative ways to cope with something that is not working. Giving up is really not an option if you want to work with the horse…
