Therapeutic Riding

Therapeutic riding allows children and adults to address a range of challenges in ways that are both therapeutic and fun. Each lesson includes time on the horse and time with the horse, to facilitate a partnership that is compassionate, respectful, and restorative.

Program Details

At NEAT, we offer Therapeutic Riding lessons to persons with a broad range of disabilities. Children and adults are taught horsemanship skills that begin with grooming, leading, and tacking, and end with mounted activities, games, and skill practice.

  • Lessons are taught by certified instructors who help provide a safe, fun, and creative experience. Lessons are tailored to each student’s specific goals and needs.
  • Therapeutic Riding improves strength, balance, flexibility, body awareness, motor coordination, communication, social interaction, and self-confidence in an environment that is both stimulating and supportive.
  • Developing a compassionate and respectful relationship with horses is an important aspect of our riding program. Many students achieve a level of independence that they might not otherwise experience without the assistance of a trusted equine companion.

The challenges Therapeutic Riding can address include…

  • ADHD
  • Autism Spectrum Disorder
  • Cerebral Palsy,
  • Genetic Disorders including Down Syndrome
  • Learning Disabilities
