Sky Rocketing Autism Rates

It would be safe to say that not sol long ago, many people knew little or nothing about autism. I don’t think that is as true anymore. What is interesting is that there is still a lot to learn about autism and certainly the number of people diagnosed with this neurological disorder has increased. This has sparked a lot of discussion about why there is such a large increase in the number of people living with this condition. This article in ScientificAmerican offers some interesting thoughts about this.

Greater awareness is a good thing, as early interventions are extremely important for helping those on spectrum reach their full potential. Also with greater awareness we are able to develop new and better interventions. The research is showing that a variety of services can make a difference in how well a child/teen on the spectrum does in all areas of their lives.

For many years it has been known that Equine Therapy offers a lot of benefits for those on the spectrum. From increasing focus to soothing sensory issues and building confidence, work with horses has a lot to offer those on the spectrum.

At N.E.A.T we work with children as young as 4, teens and even adults on the spectrum. Our clients learn to lead, groom, help with tack-up and to ride their horse. We are proud of the many success stories our clients and families can tell about their work with horses.

If you know someone on the spectrum and would like more information about the services we offer, call or email us. We can schedule a visit for you to meet the horses, share more about what you might be struggling with and share how we may be able to help.
