dscf1170Yes, all kids, at one time or another, misbehave. Even well behaved kids get tired, have a bad day or get pushed too hard and all of sudden we see a side of them that surprises us.

But when is bad behavior a real mental health issue?  This post talks about some of the signs that there may be more going on than simple ‘misbehaving’ and also
gives some suggestions for dealing with issues such as Conduct Disorder and Oppositional Defiant Disorder.  They also talk about how traditional ‘psychotherapy’ may not be very effective, as a child/teen may feel they are being forced to do something they are not interested in doing. Frankly, this is a time when Equine Assisted Therapy/Psycho Social Rehabilitation may be very successful. By focusing on changing behaviors through work with the horses, clients usually feel much more engaged and willing to consider other ways of dealing with the challenges they face.
