Tip of the week 4.1.14

BE AGREEABLE.

Girls talkingMake it easy for people to deal with you. Don’t be angry and disruptive merely because you can.

Sometimes we get in the habit of being negative. We may be dealing with a lot of stress and take it out on those closest to us when in fact, they deserve the best of us. Fussy girlsThere are times when we need to stop and remind ourselves of this. Or someone else may have to do the reminding. It’s always ok to tell someone you don’t like the way they are treating you. Saying “that’s not a very nice thing to say” or “you aren’t usually so short tempered” is a good way to call someone’s attention to the fact that they are acting inappropriately.

In our work with horses we stress ‘firm, fair and consistent’ actions. Acting out of P1130539frustration or anger with a horse or any other living creature only creates fear, confusion and distrust. Certainly not what we need to create trusting, loving relationships.

If you or someone you know is struggling with the relationships in their lives, we may be able to help. Give us a call or send us an email to schedule a visit. We will show you around, introduce our wonderful horses, learn more about the challenges you are dealing with and share how we may be able to help.

Research found that having a positive attitude about those around us is among the most important predictors of life satisfaction and that without such attitudes, we are less than have as likely to feel happy.        Glass and Jolly 1997
