An explanation not an excuse

This article talks about telling kids with ADHD about their condition. I too think that providing kids an explanation for why they are having difficulties is helpful, but want to be sure that the kids don’t then use this as an excuse for their behavior. Additionally, I don’t want this to be an excuse for kids and their families for lowering expectations.  So there is a fine line to be walked here.

Through work with horses we can address the issues of ADHD – lack of focus, impulsive behavior and poor memory/concentration, among other things. The lure of interacting with a horse often creates enough of an incentive for a child to bring all their abilities to bear and the results can be amazing. A young boy who can’t sit still guiding his horse through an obstacle course feels such a sense of accomplishment!

We would love to show you around the ranch, introduce you to our wonderful horses and share more with you about how our program works. Call us to schedule an appointment.
