In our work with those on the spectrum we have to be aware of each client’s specific triggers – bright lights, loud noises, just too much activity – all of these things have the potential to overwhelm a person on the spectrum. Though they rarely happen at the ranch, we need to have strategies in place for dealing with “melt downs”. And most importantly, we have to be prepared to “punt” – things just don’t always go as planned and you need to be flexible in order to make the most of every opportunity.
