Equine Assisted Therapy and modulating emotions

This is a very interesting article about one aspect of the many great benefits of equine assisted therapy.

We work on awareness and modulation of emotions with many clients.  From the “hyper-
active” child to the angry teen to the depressed career mom, horses have a way of helping us face and deal with underlying issues and the surface emotions in a more healthy and appropriate way. They show us that anger will not solve all problems. Rather you have to find a way to communicate what you want and need. You need to be fair and firm. Horses don’t respond well to turmoil – you have to learn to be calm and almost predictable – they like routines.  And of course horses have very big shoulders to cry on. They have very strong backs to help carry our burdens (even the emotional ones) and when you are with them it is hard not to feel those burdens lifting. The act of grooming can be incredibly soothing…

We would love to share more with you about how our program may be able to help you and your family. Call us to schedule a visit. We will show you around the ranch, introduce you to our incredible horses and talk more about how our program works.
