I found this post about the particular problems that girls/women with Autism face to be very interesting and enlightening.
It’s not hard at all for me to imagine a girl who is quiet, withdrawn and somewhat “odd” being overlooked and left to fend for herself in dealing with her issues. She’s not hurting anyone or causing turmoil, so what’s the problem? But we need to be sure that all children, boys AND girls get the help they need when they are dealing with social, emotional and behavioral issues.
Horses may be a powerful intervention for a girl who is feeling lost and disconnected. Through work with horse clients can learn about reading body language and spotting other non-verbal cues. They can build self confidence and practice establishing safe personal boundaries, while adding something new and exciting to their lives. This gives them something interesting to talk to others about and something very special to look forward to each week.
We would love to have you come out to see our ranch, meet our wonderful horses and learn more about how our program may be able to help. Call us today to schedule a visit.
