One Teenager’s story of how horses helped her

This is a great article about the healing that took place when one teenage girl discovered horses.

The teenage years can be daunting even for those who don’t have any special challenges to deal with. How they view themselves may be changing in the context of larger more complex world. On the one hand they crave the security of firm rules and expectations, while rebelling and pushing away from them at the same time.  For teens with special needs this is a time when they can begin to feel particularly isolated and left behind.

By addressing issues in a non-threatening yet challenging way, clients are able to build their confidence and find a way of dealing with the many changes they may be facing.

We will sit down with you and your teen to build an individual plan that address their specific issues, from anger management to alternative coping skills and building self confidence (to name just a few).  Then once a week we will meet and through work with one of our wonderful horses, address the issues and challenges, building on each sessions accomplishments to meet the stated goals. Along the way your teen will learn about horse and herd behavior, how to groom a horse, how to lead and work safely with a horse on the ground and how to ride.

We invite you to give us a call to schedule a visit. We will show you around the ranch, introduce you to our horses, learn more about what you are dealing with and share more about how we may be able to help. Call us today.
