Though I think we have come a long way in our understanding and ability to be compassionate when it comes to kids with special needs, we still have a long way to go.
In this article several moms share their personal experiences with intolerance. We all need to work together to educate and model tolerance, acceptance and kindness. Unless we personally live or work with special needs kids can know what the struggle is like. As the one mom points out, she knows that her child is doing well, though the strangers around her may not realize this.
We work with kids on the autism spectrum, as well as those dealing with other social, emotional or behavioral issues. Through work with horses we can help our clients develop effective problem solving, self-soothing and coping skills. What’s more, we are often able to help the parents find alternative techniques for dealing with problem behaviors.
If you have a child or teen who is challenged with social, emotional or behavioral issues, we would be happy to have you come for a visit. We will show you around, introduce you to our wonderful horses, learn more about what you are dealing with and share how we may be able to help. Call or email to schedule a visit.
