It is not hard to imagine that a veteran returning from a tour of duty might be dealing with PTSD. Or someone who has been a victim or witness of violence or an accident. But new research has show that getting sick and ending up in the hospital can result in some patients developing PTSD as well.
Symptoms of PTSD can include sleep issues, irritability, Becoming easily distracted, unable to sustain attention, fidgeting, and appearing hyper-vigilant can all make life very challenging, especially if someone is still dealing with physical issues as well.
Through work with horses we help our clients address their specific issues. We may work on increasing focus and building good self-soothing skills. We discuss how the horse, a prey animal, responds to the world around them and what we can do to help them feel safe and secure. We build self-confidence and encourage them to build a bonded, trusting relationship with their horse.
If you or someone you know is dealing with PTSD for any reason, we are here to help. Call or email to schedule a visit. We will show you around, introduce you to our wonderful horses, learn more about what you are dealing with and share how we may be able to help.
