When/how do you talk to your teens about suicide

Tragically, it happens all to often – a friend, classmate or just someone at the middle/high school commits suicide. Or maybe it is just a story on the news, but your teen may be feeling troubled by the awareness that another teen has taken their own life.

This interview/article talks about how you can address this possibly traumatic incident with your own child.  It is important that you do talk to them – your reassurance may be vital!

Teenagers can be such a prickly bunch. They want to be “adults” and “your little darling” within the course of an hour. They still need you to set boundaries, though they may test them, as boundaries show you care.

In our work with teens we often work on strengthening coping skills, building good decision making skills, boosting self-confidence and encouraging positive communications.

We would love to show you and your teen around the ranch, introduce you to our wonderful horses and share more with you about how our program works. Call us today to schedule a visit.
