We all have different ways of dealing with things in our lives and that includes parenting. But our kids have unique personalities and “one size fits all” parenting styles often don’t work well. Here is a quick look at 4 different styles of parenting and how they might work with certain childhood situations.
This may surprise some of you, but horses each have unique personalities as well, and we find that adjusting our training style to fit the specific horse, produces better results and fosters the relationship we want to develop.
So when working with our clients, we not only have to take their personality into consideration, but we have to look at which horse will be the best fit as well. We may need an “energizer bunny” to help a high-energy client to realize that they need to bring their energy down to work effectively or a client who has “shut down” may need a horse that “has more whoa than go” to get them to step up and find the energy to push the horse into being more responsive. What’s more, we also try to let the client choose the horse that they feel drawn to. If it is not a good match, we might suggest that they try working with another horse. This can also be a powerful learning experience, showing that trying something new can be a positive experience.
We would love to have you come out, tour the ranch, meet each of our wonderful and unique horses and learn more about how our program works. Call us today to schedule a visit.
